Corporate Training Consultants

The times we live in promise ever-evolving business dynamics. If you want your place at the table, your business has to bend and flex with the marketplace.  Easy to say, tough to do. Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to develop clear and objective solutions. The job of a good corporate training consultant is often to untangle a mass of ideas and input from multiple sources – all with differing and sometimes conflicting agendas, points of view, and priorities – then put it all back together in a cohesive, functional, forward-thinking plan.

Is your business standing on the brink of an enhancement or overhaul of your corporate philosophy, operational systems, or organizational structure? Are you ready to roll out a new product, new idea, or new way of thinking?  Before you go any further, consider using a corporate training consultant to ease the process, clear potential obstacles, and help ensure a smooth implementation.

Results-driven and accountable, the team at Sexton & Company works to understand your business and your objectives, identify the right learning methodologies, and develop training programs to meet those objectives. Call us today to learn more about our corporate training consultation services.

Training Needs Assessment/Analysis

A training needs assessment is an investigative tool that will ultimately tell you the who, what, when, where, why and how of a training project. Also called a “gap analysis,” the goal of a needs assessment is to determine the current performance versus the desired performance. The gap between the two is the learning that has to happen, and the basis for the training design. It happens often enough that a manager or company leader wants specific training to “fix” some performance problem. Since training can’t resolve everything (e.g., bad attitudes or obsolescence), a well-done needs assessment will tell you if training is really the answer.

The Sexton & Company team works with your organization’s subject matter experts and other key team members to get to the root of the matter.  When training is indeed the answer, we’ll identify the learning gaps and develop learning objectives as the basis to launch an effective training program. Call us today to learn more about our needs assessment process and tools.

Training Design & Development/Instructional Design

Training design and development encompasses all the activities that go into planning and creating good training programs.  After the needs assessment is complete, we know the target audience and the training objectives. Now we’re at the point where we further define and then create the key elements of the training itself: learning tasks, architecture and flow, scripts, storyboards, delivery methods, multimedia, hardware and software system requirements, and companion pieces like workbooks and facilitator guides.

Sexton & Company will work with you to plan, design and manage end-to-end learning projects. We can render customized new courses or an entire curriculum from the ground up, revise your existing content, or tweak an off-the-shelf workshop into an out-of-the box solution just for you.  Large or small, simple or complex, we cover the full learning cycle of course and curriculum design, development, implementation, evaluation and ROI.

You can see many examples of training that Sexton & Company has designed and developed in our Portfolio. Call us to discuss your specific needs.

DVD training products feature high quality video, and can be played on most of today’s computers and home DVD systems. Script Writing/Storyboards/Content Creation

Do you associate good scriptwriting with training? You probably connect a script with movies, TV or Broadway shows, maybe even a commercial. But training? Really?

Really! In the hands of a good scriptwriter, the goals of training are delivered in a way that precisely resonates with the target audience. It might be to teach, communicate, open minds to new ideas or ways of doing things, introduce or expand, motivate, or to create urgency. Perhaps it’s detailing a complex process, or presenting product info that requires a thorough understanding of the material. Or, a concept that requires an effective way to “sell” the message and position the training to answer the ever-present question, “what’s in it for me?” A talented scriptwriter nails the message in simple, effective language that stays within the context of the training.

The Sexton & Company team is often called on to create scripts and storyboards for a whole program, a big idea, a new product rollout, or to help deliver change throughout an organization. We have a supreme understanding of how to create precise communications targeting a specific audience. It’s kind of a marketing and advertising thing… and yes, we’re experienced in that too!

Consumer Training Programs

Consumer training blends marketing with training to highlight a product or service. It must be informative enough to describe the functionality or features, but also depict how using the product or service will make the consumer’s life so much better, its benefits. Call us today to find out how we can help you create effective consumer training.

Training Evaluation Tools & Systems

World-class training is carefully crafted and powerfully delivered, but that’s not the end of the process. Just as the beginning stage is the needs assessment, the final stage is evaluation. This is when the value of your training effort, or the need for some additional tweaking, becomes clear.

Evaluation is a crucial, yet often overlooked stage of the training cycle. If it’s taken too lightly or skipped altogether, how can you possibly know if you got the expected return on your training investment? The Sexton & Company team works with your organization to determine if training objectives have been met, and if the desired changes in employee behavior, opinions, knowledge and/or skills have taken place. The scope of training evaluation tools range through four levels, to gauge:

  • Participant Satisfaction – their reaction to the training, sometimes called “smile sheets”
  • Participant Learning – the new knowledge, skills, or attitudes they absorbed
  • Participant Behavior – the skills and knowledge they are applying, the learning transference to the job
  • Business Results – the measurable impact, the return on training investment

Sexton & Company will work with you to decide which evaluation level(s) will be the most beneficial for the type of training used by your organization. Call us today to find out more about the training evaluation tools or system we can design for you.

 Section 508 Compliance

In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities so they may obtain and use information quickly and easily. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology. Under Section 508 (29 U.S.C. 794d), agencies

must give disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.

Sexton & Company is well-versed in the requirements of Section 508. We have developed DVDs and online training programs to assist individuals and meet the requirements of the law. The training is developed with a startup screen that allows the user to pick one of three different setups for playing the video:

  • Played regularly
  • Played with captions, or
  • Played with a voiceover describing what’s going on in the video
